- Regal Sun was not a casualty of war. It was brought to Karachi to be scrapped as it had suffered a fire onboard earlier. It sank in 1979 while at anchor. Reported that it broke in two before sinking.

Mv Regal Sun by Yousuf - MV Regal Sun, sank 2.2 miles off the Manora breakwaters when it broke in to two and is lying submerged. This was one of the victims of 1971 war. MV Dia Hatim, is lying submerged eight miles south-east of the Manora breakwaters, and MV Amir, is lying opposite Himalya, Manora, but is not considered dangerous for shipping traffic area, FT Aqua Marine, FT East Bell 505, MV Naran, Fishing Trawler and many more which are Unknown to us. Now these ship wrecks are habitat for marine life and interesting sites for scuba diver to go dive and

SUNKEN VESSELS

The ship sinking business actually started during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, a major part of the Pak Naval fleet was destroyed and sink by Indian Navy The sad thing the role of Air force wasn’t as good as it was in 1965 war, on the other warfront in West Pakistan 90,000 soldiers slender under the command of General Niazi in front of Muktibhani and Indian General Jagjit Sing Arora in Dhaka East Pakistan. More than half a million were taken by Indian Army as a POWs it was share embracement for the country

Karachi and Chatagong both cities were under siege, Air craft carrier INS Vikran blocked the Chatogong port, Submarine PNS Ghazi were deputed to destroy INS Vikarn but in the consequences PNS Ghazi was destroyed and sunk near Apatnam Harbour.

Here in West Pakistani front Indian Navy blocked the Karachi port in two operation INS Nepat (Missile Boat) hit and sink the PNS Destroyer Khyber, Mine sweeper Mahafiz, 3 merchants ships, hit ablease the Oil Storage tank at Kemari harbor, and PNS Destroyer Shahjahan, which was asked to help Destroyer Khyber was hit and sink somewhere near Churna Island.

During the crisis, Naval Radar Station pointed out the INS Missile Boat and asked Air force to destroy it but unfortunately the target which was picked by the Radar Station happened to be PNS Zulfiqar, Air force in friendly fire caused serious damaged including casualties at PNS Zulfiqar.

Several other merchant ships which sunk during the last 62 years, some of them still lying submerged beyond the Manora break water within a radius of six miles and have been posing a threat to the visiting Vessels entering Karachi Harbour.

A Pakistani flag vessel, MV Abbasin, had sunk after hitting the wreckage of a Panamanian carrier, MV Isebina, 1972. The wreckage of MV Isebina was removed by a foreign salvage company hired by the Government of Pakistan but the wreckage of MV Abbasin is still lying submerged four miles southeast of the Monora breakwaters.


MV Dynamic Venture sank in the Karachi waters in 1977 and is lying submerged northwest of the Manora breakwaters. This Panama ship was deliberately sunk by the crew of the vessel in protest against the non-payment of their wages by the owner. The crew was rescued by another foreign ship which also towed Dynamic Venture some distance away to her sub-aqua grave.

MV Munir, belongs to a Gulf State, sunk in 1977 and is lying about a quarter mile southeast of the Manora breakwaters. MV Nanda Davi, belonging to India, sank in 1980 and is lying 3.5 miles west of the Manora breakwaters.

MV Regal Sun, sank 2.2 miles off the Manora breakwaters when it broke in to two and is lying submerged. This was one of the victims of 1971 war.
