It is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak (3 of the 17 barangays which make up the municipality of Malay), and is under the administrative control of the Philippine Tourism Authority in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan.

Boracay ist eine zu den Philippinen gehörende, nordwestlich der Insel Panay gelegene Insel. Sie ist knapp 10 km² groß und hat ca. 8.000 Einwohner. Die Insel hat die drei Orte Balabag, Manok Manok und Yapak. Seit dem 25. April 1956 ist Boracay mit der Provinz Aklan unabhängig.
