Santa Lucia History - This turtle boat was made out of cement(yes it floats)and used by Cubans to sail to freedom in 1994. More than 20 Cuban refugees made it to Naples and the boat was kept in a boat yard in Naples. In 1997 the U.S. Coast Guard sold it to the government for $10 to be used as a artificial reef. The vessel took on water when it was being towed out and sunk way before its original destination. Lucky for me because my boat can't go to far out:0)
